Common Signs Your Client's Pool Is Leaking

As a pool professional, you're usually the first line of defense in recognizing potential issues during your service visits. Below is a list of common signs to keep an eye out for.

Excessive Water Loss

During your weekly service visits, pay attention to the water level. If you are consistently needing to add water each week, its likely there is a leak. While evaporation does cause some water loss, anything exceeding 1/4 inch a day requires investigation.

Unstable Water Chemistry

As a pool leaks water, it takes the chemicals with it. If you're consistently needing more and more chemicals to keep the water balanced,  leak detection may be necessary. Not just to fix your clients pool, but to save you money on all of the extra chemicals you're using.

Water Around Equipment

When conducting weekly equipment inspections, look for persistent wetness. Some condensation is normal, but consistent puddles or damp soil around the equipment pad often indicates plumbing or equipment leaks.
